HOW IT WENT…
I am BACK after my Beta offering of “The NATURE of Creativity”. All I can say is WOW. I thought I was on to something and I WAS CORRECT!
Creating sacred space for women to gather is a FULL BODIED YES for me. There is incredible depth to this topic and working with it resonated with these women as well.
I didn't give much information ahead of time to these women (on PURPOSE) and asked them to trust their own intuition. They did and it was magical for me to witness.
I have facilitated PAINTING classes in the past, in an effort to share with others my painting process and unfortunately, when I demo how I paint it never allowed them to truly tap into their own inner wisdom. So, I changed my approach. I began to understand the value of my PRACTICES and how those are what drive the intuitive approach to CREATIVITY. And that may not mean painting. That can mean applying presence and intentionality into anything and maybe all you do/create. WE are always creating…ALWAYS. It’s just a matter of how conscious we are when we are doing ANYTHING>
In contemplating that FACT, it takes tremendous discipline to bring presence and intentionality. We have to SLOW DOWN. In so doing we realize we only have so many hours in a day. From that place we begin to awaken to the fact that our times precious. What are we DOING with our precious life?
You are probably wondering about the sticks we are all holding… I asked the women to bring a stick to class. I have been making paint brushes from sticks and that was what I was hoping to do in class….but, when I gave the instructions to find a stick and no other information I didn’t know what I was in for…LOL! THREE OUT OF 6 WOMEN BROUGT WHOLE BRANCHES, LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so happy and delighted with this. To see these women bring in their sticks, twigs, branches…the class was taking a life of it’s own. I am a facilitator and not a teacher. That title helps me navigate and stay flexible to what shows up. It’s all abstract and mystical. One woman brought the most sturdy and stable WALKING STICK and it was the thing she needed, another brought a long stick that landed on her car and she took it as a sign to work with that stick, another brought in what she called a “twig” and that had meaning for her. The point is I created a container and set an intention. The people showed up and we worked in collaboration. THIS is the whole process. Presence and Intentionality coupled with flexibility.
Where I thought we would make paint brushes, because that was my lens…others made walking sticks, wands, totems, etc. That is capturing lightning in a bottle. This is FLOW STATE.This is allowing the FLOW and discovery…very feminine….
We explored story telling and being in a circle together. We built an ALTAR. Gathering women to create a better world. That’s what I want to do. That’s my intention.
I believe it was my “retreat to the trees” in October that solitified in me the sacred medicine of WOMEN. Women are the CREATORS. WE make PEOPLE. I am in FULL belief right now that we are being called to be in the FULLNESS of our feminine expression.
So, now is a time for me to integrate this experience. I am already developing my next offering. I know for certain I’d like to do a LONG weekend in the woods to spend more time nature and give women time and space to get quiet, nourished, relaxed and see what unfolds. I know that I enjoy small groups and curating the experience.
