I forgot….

Greetings from a woman in “the weeds”. This post is scattered and covered.

So thankful that I created the “WILDFLOWERS” series when I did…

We moved 4 weeks ago and I have yet to return to my studio. I forgot what moving was like.

Incase you forgot what moving is like, allow me to help your recall…

Moving is something you slowly build yourself up to. It’s like eating an elephant, one little bite at a time. You begin packing months before. Slowly planning what you’ll take and what no longer serves. You’ll build up mentally, physically and spiritually. You’ll call your friends and family and remind them to check on you, feed you and come give you a hug when needed. You will have the actual move and I thought, “if I just put my head down, go to work, this will be over soon.” When you wake up 3 weeks later and you’re still deeply in it, you’ll be innocently driving to meet your friends (who you haven’t seen in months) and you’ll think, “I don’t think I’m doing so good.”

You’ll proceed to cry at dinner and laugh hysterically and go home and tell your husband your revelation. He will try to fix and you’ll remind him that you just needed to say it out loud. You’ll then tell everyone you need a 3 week break and you’ll sleep a lot.

So, here I am, a week into my 3 week pause from all things moving.Grounding back into my body. Trying to put together some sort of self care and structure…because also, SUMMER…and the transition into my son returning from college, kids home, friends of theirs at the house at almost all times, cleaning and cooking and r establishing boundaries. Where is my mind? Where is my body? Where is my spirit? I’m discombobulated. Everyone else seems pretty good…I’m working my way back to center…

So, all that being said. I have a good amount of work I did before our move. I am dreaming up a way to share them with you this fall. Ideally, I’d love to create an outdoor gallery. Imagine being in a forest and looking at art hung on trees? How perfect! I’m thinking fall. When the weather is more manageable . And I am more balanced.

I do have one of my paintings from the series at THE DUNWOODY GALLERY. I will be giving a talk this Thursday evening from 6-8 on how to live an artful life. I hope to see you there. You can see my latest work and chat with me. You do need to RSVP, though. So do that now. (See previous post with all the details!)

Ok, going to get my teeth cleaned. 😬

Peace be with all of us.

Much love,

L E S L I E
