REFLECTING ON 2023

Closing out a year….What was 2023? I never have chosen a word of the year on NYE…but today I’d like to name 2023, F8.
One of the things I love about an iPhone is that is will occasionally and very randomly send you a slide show set to music….
Just the other day this happened and it was a summary of 2023. It made me deeply grateful and so very happy. What was reflected back to me were my kids playing basketball and I celebrated their unique journey and growth in something they have dedicated their hearts, minds and bodies to. Watching them grow in their own abilities and have success is a blessing. I saw photos from my Art opening and internally gave myself a deep bow of gratitude for being brave and doing something that scared me. I saw trips we took this year with family, walks in the woods with Scotty, Tyler Childers twice once with AMY AND ALEX and another time with Scotty, A Buff’s game, a RETREAT that changed me at a cellular level, ERYKAH BADU w Megan and pictures of my loyal companions, Bruno and McLovin. As I looked at these photographs, I thought, “what a life! What a year!
In preparation for 2024 I am doing a ritual of clearing. This looks like deleting my inbox. Cleaning up photos on my phone, clearing out my computers files, clearing out all of my clothes and refining, make-up, desk, files…CLEAR! I also practice clearing my mind…what type of stuff am I feeding my head? Do I need a reboot? YES! Yes, I do.
2023 was a potent year for me, personally. I have experienced a lot of growth. I learned a lot of important and powerful lessons. I am SO grateful of all that 2023 had for me.
I look forward to 2024. I am in the planning phase of 2024…asking questions like, “ What do I want 2024 to feel/look like? What am I craving more of? What am I letting go of? What are my goals? What challenges do I want to face? How can I show up better and more creatively in my family life? Work life? What support do I need anyhow can I get it? How do I want my business to evolve? Is there a word that encompasses the intention for next year?
I am exciting to be teaching in the new year. That feels really fun to me right now. I am currently working on the content for “ The Nature of Creativity”, my next class offering, and it is going to be super cathartic to present to others. It is my process of creativity. So, many layers of discovery and awe. I have 3 more spots for my trial run class on 1-14-24. Let me know if you want it.
